There was a bird making a horrible racket outside the back window the last couple of days. At first I thought it was trying to build a nest in the little vent that sticks out the back of the house for the gas fireplace that is built into the cabinet in the living room in our house. But, when I went out and looked, I couldn't see anything that would attract a bird, and nothing that looked like a nest. After several more attacks on the house, I snuck out back on the deck and caught a glimpse of a red bird as it flew away, but did not see it well enough to identify it. This morning it was at it again, so I snuck down to the living room and opened the blinds. Then I realized the bird was interested in the window itself, and not the vent below the window. This dumb bird was trying to attack its image in the window. I hoped that by opening the blinds and turning on the lights in the living room the bird would not see as strong a reflection and go away. No such luck. However, as I watched, the bird stopped attacking its reflection long enough to rest on the deck railing. Hmm, red bird, little tuft on the back of its head. Ooh, ooh, I know what kind of bird that is! The St. Louis Cardinals have a bird just like that on their uniforms. Now, what kind of bird is it? (So, I'm not a bird watcher.) I didn't know if the bird was insane or if this is normal cardinal behavior. So, Google to the rescue, I found that males are known for pecking their reflections. So, with the question of insanity not completely answered, at least this type of behavior appears to be normal for a male cardinal. So, that is my bird-watching story for you. Interesting that they have only been in the Great Lakes area for 100 years.

So bored I actually started surfing the 'net and reading people's blogs. Then I thought, "Whoa, that's pretty bad!" So, instead, I went to my blog and read it. Bought some prescription eye drops today. Five milliliters for $75. That is one teaspoon. I don't know how many drops there are in a teaspoon, but I bet that it costs about $1 per drop. Crazy.
