More projects!

I'm lousy at taking pictures of my projects, but here goes anyway. After spending the morning visiting with my visiting sister and then investigating a church building we are considering buying, I spent the afternoon on cycle projects. I worked on replacing the steering head bearings in my VTX. The stock Honda ones are little ball bearings and they were starting to get worn and wobbly after 30,000 miles. I also installed stiffer progressive front springs. Here is an image of the bike with the front end removed.

During this project I helped Cara replace the tires on her bicycle. The old tires were weak in the sidewalls and would pop out of the rim periodically. We also practiced driving a stick shift for an hour or two while drove to get fork oil, pick up some recently re-soled shoes, and new tires for the bicycle.

I also helped Philip replace the rear tire on the Nighthawk today, too. That project actually went fairly smoothly as well. We were able to get it done without too much fuss, though we did have to drive to Walmart to get double-sided tape so we could balance the tire.

One of the hardest things to do today was get the forks reassembled with the new springs in them. Forks always have some pre-loading, and it is tough to compress the springs and at the same time thread in the fork cap. These pictures are of me giving it a go.
Getting it all ready.

Trying. to. get. it. to. go. together!

And, here is a picture of my helper! She helped me quite a bit today.
