On Friday I had to empty all my liquids and gels from my carry-ons and stow them in my checked bag. Of course, I don't normally check a bag so that was a change too. These little changes were because of the ruckus in the UK about blowing up trans-atlantic planes using some type of homemade liquid explosive. So, Saturday morning, after reading and hearing about terrorism and bombs all day, I was a bit shocked to find a suitcase sitting peacefully in my backyard. This suitcase had been carefully placed there by someone, but no one I knew was confessing. After querying my house guests, my children, and a few of the neighborhood children, I decided it must have been a prank by an older kid somewhere in the neighborhood. My panic about it being a bomb subsided somewhat when I saw a small garage sale "$1.00" sign stuck to the top of the suitcase. Two neighbor boys about 6 and 8 offered to help me open the suitcase. So, I let them. And, of course, it was empty. Later on Saturday Joyce drove by a garage sale and saw a small make-up case the same color for sale. She asked if they wanted their suitcase back and they acted appalled. Maybe they had their kids distribute the "give-away" items throughout the neighborhood since they couldn't fit them all in their rubbish bin.

I'm finally getting around to checking your blog again after a long absence after checking a few times when you weren't posting anything. Just thought I'd say "Hi". We participated in a fun surprise birthday party for Nancy Kramar today with all of her family and a few church folks. At "The Spaghetti Factory."
So I read about your suitcase incident. :-) Mom

Thank goodness you didn't blow up the neighbor's kids! :-P
