Port Aransas

This is the route Philip and I took to Port Aransas 19-21 September 2008. The blue leg was Friday, green Saturday, and red the return home on Sunday.

I left work a bit early (okay, very early) on Friday and we packed up and headed toward Kerrville.

After stopping at the Dublin Dr. Pepper museum, we headed south and soon were cruising some dirt "highways." I was having a conversation with Lynne about a car problem in this picture.

We spent Friday night in Kerrville. We left about 9 AM Saturday morning and headed south on 16. Wow, great ride! I was a little bit worried about Philip on some of the switchbacks but he navigated them just fine.

While riding on 337 we saw a sign for http://www.txmotofoto.com/ and then a few hundred yards later we saw a couple of guys with a camera taking pictures!

So, here is the action shot of Philip

and the action shot of Steve.

Notice all the dirt on the motorcycle? That was from the dirt roads on Friday.

We stopped for lunch at a Dairy Queen in Jourdanton, and across the street from the DQ was a car wash. We unloaded the gear and washed the bugs and dirt off the bikes. Yeah!

Unfortunately, not 5 miles after washing the bikes we ended up on another road that turned to dirt under our wheels. Argh!

We got to Port Aransas about 5 PM and were in the ocean a few minutes later.

Sunday morning we packed up again and were on the road by about 10 AM.

I hopped off my bike to get a picture of us on the ferry from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass. I was quickly told by one of the deck hands to get back on the bike.

We got home about 7 PM, fired up the hot tub, and then went to Chili's for dinner. By the time we got back the water was hot and it felt good to soak the road residue off the bodies. It was good to be back after 1094.5 miles on the road over the weekend.
